I've read through the archives to try to answer this question, but I didn't see anyone talk about what specific tool to buy and wanted to make sure I have the right one. I am going to try to change my own timing belt. Is the the right CAM Sprocket Holding Tool to buy: http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/lis38220.htmlAlso, is this the right tool to lock down the CAM: http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/otc6474.htmlDo most people replace pulleys when they are doing the belts? Thanks for your advice!

If you have a 1998 tour with VCT, there is no need for the tool, there is flats on the cams to put a wrench.

you don't need one but for peice of mind ... the cams will turn maybe one tooth with the belt off, just mark the cam position before removing the belt and make sure that is lined up when a new belt is put on

Buy the gates timing kit. The idlers and tensioner are included. It also has good instructions. Also get the cam alignment tool and the crank pin. You can get them for about $25. It is well worth it. You don't want to have to take it apart again because timing is no right. You can hold the cam with a wrench. It has slots on it for that.

That is a good purchase. It makes life easier with those tools.
