Why did the other staff walk out? If they also aren't being paid and this fact resulted in the 30% walking out then this is a potentially serious legal issue that you need to report to the appropriate authorities. I'm not sure what labor laws exist up north however I'd imagine the state would investigate this matter promptly.

[patronizing tone] a bunch of people quit. New people get hired to replace the ones that quit. People that don't quit move up in seniority when new people are hired. [/patronizing tone]

Must be great to live in no mans land!

BTW WTF is a cheque? LOL, sorry couldn't resist.

My cousin worked at this place, decided 2 years ago to start saving for a house, starting from $0. He bought a house outright last year. I started at a higher rate than he did (although that's not actually helping me at the moment) so it was a perfectly feasible goal since I don't drink, don't spend alot of money, etc... I'll be buying a house back in Saskatoon, so it will be even cheaper than what he paid. Living in the praries does have some benefits.

Everyone is leaving because there have been alot of recent changes in management. People that have been in the company that got overlooked for foreman positions after spending 10 years+ with the company are bitter and quit. The people that are left are bitter and don't care anymore, making it a happy place to work. Nothing like spending every coffee break in your new job listening to everyone complain about work.

My cousin incidently, just quit after 5 years at the company for similar reasons.

oh yeah and a cheque (check is not the proper spelling unless you are from the US, but anywhere else on earth you'll be laughed at ):

There was no way I could have expected not to get paid. It's not an everyday occurrence, the company has been around since the early 60s. It's not like it's some new start-up run by people learning the ropes.
