Nothing ever does, I expected to run my own Wal-Mart store by this point in life but it didn't work out which was very dissapointing. With this job, I get to work, as hard as I want and as long as I want, and it all gets reflected in my production numbers and production quality.

So basically, for the first time in my life, my hard work will only make me more valuable to my field.

Regardless of how things work out though, at least I finally have a goal I don't think is going to be very hard to reach.

That right there would be enough for me to take it!

I know what you mean about working at store like walmart and advancing.... but only so far and never getting credit for your work.

I've made a lot of money in the stock market in the past year on Canadian mining companies (Aurizon, Northgate, and EuroZinc to name a few), that industry is really booming. Great time to get onboard a company that supports those operations. Good luck!

Guess I might have some of the worst luck on Earth

So I started my new job, boring work, but the pay was good so it's worth it right? I guess it would be if they actually paid me. Time for my first cheque rolls around and no cheque... WTF? Apparently it's my fault for not providing my SIN in thier info packet they gave me. I have two problems with thier theory...

-I did not get to go through orientation, so I did not receive one
-My SIN was on my application form

So that was strike 1.

For the next week I constantly ask about my cheque and when I'll receive it. I get the run-around all week. I reached the point where I started finding thier incompetence amusing, then I ran out of money in my bank account... I was becoming increasingly frustrated as I started to dip into my overdraft. After three weeks, they did something that actually shocked me. I had only been on board for a few weeks and was nowhere near what I would call knowledgeable in my position. None the less, they had me train a new employee, one that could barely speak english, on a machine. To me that is not only dangerous, it's outright retarded.

Strike 2.

The day before that I'd vowed that I would quit my job if they did not pay me by the next day. They didn't.

Strike 3.

I can't afford to quit, but realistically they haven't paid me yet so right now I can't afford to eat. I don't imagine things are going to get any better either as 30% of the staff walked out since I started, all of them had over 10 years experience. I actually have some seniority now Do I leave or stick it out and see what else they mess up?

what the hell?! idiots!
They should have at least cut you a regular check by now, and then just deal with the payroll issues later (taxes, etc).
Bunch of idiots!
Get your local labor board involved.
Throw a massive stink constantly.
Find out if you could even apply with unemployment.
and start looking for a new job.

I just started a new job as well, their payroll actually fell on the friday of the my first week. Even though my payroll wasn't officially set up they cut me a check since they didn't want me to have to wait three weeks.

Man, you need to contact your provicial labor board as well as the local authorities in this matter.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
