Ok... so my keys just got some feet and walked away. I called the dealership to see how much it would cost for me to get another key made. They gave me a figure of about 240.00, because they can't make just one key. So what I had to do was tow the car down to the dealership so they can program my key. About a hour later they call me and say that they can't get the computer to talk to them and was wondering if they can get my permision to find the problem and would cost about 200.00 dollars more just to do that. So now im looking at about 500.00. I told them that I up the superchip in, and they said that that might be the problem. I told them that I dont have my stock chip. A few hours later they called and said that they would have to put a whole new brain in the car and would cost total about 1000.00.
So what should I do. Is this all Bull. Would someones elses stock chip help. Please Give Me Some Idea. THANKS

I have heard that it costs $40 for a replacement key but why its gonna cost you $1k is beyond me. The $40 was enuff to keep me from making a apare for the ignition.

not sure if this will help but I have frequently seen Contour transponder keys on ebay. Perhaps you should buy a blank and have a locksmith cut that one for you and then see what the Ford dealership can do with putting in a chip. Also, you should call around to see if that figure is accurate.

last i checked it was 40 for a key.

also to take out your superchip all you have to do is unplug it.
it's underneath the glovebox against the firewall

you dont need a new pcm because of it

but i dont have my stock chip. I know the keys are 40 and they haft to make 2. Cant forget labor and the cost for programing

as long as we're talkin about the superchip:
there is no stock chip. the superchip is an add-on to the pcm. if you remove it, it goes back to stock.

$40 was for everything not "just" the key.
