Well, although I have no intention of tracking my bike at all, I do know lots of other people who do use them for that purpose.
Obviously it does not have the power of modern 600s or literbikes, but once the cheap OEM suspension is replaced it is quite the handler. I think of it as the miata of bikes, lightweight, average power, reliable, inexpensive and fun. By no means will it keep up with a cobra or corvette, but in the twisties it will keep up with just about anything.
