Car is a 95Tour 2.0 DOHC. Fan doesn't appear to be running other than when the AC is on. From what I have read is that it is supposed to run w/ the AC on. The car doesn't get hot going down the road, but does warm up when idling. I flushed the coolant yesterday...took about 15 gallons of water to clean it out, so I know thats not the issue. I let it idle until the temp gauge was up to around a in normal, and the fan had yet to kick in. Whats the issue here? Thanks.

I followed the instructions in the above links, jumped both relays, and the fan worked both times. Correct me if I'm wrong...but this rules out the possiblity of a bad resistor. Also replaced the ECT today. Fan still does not kick on.

About how high on the temp gauge should the high speed fan kick on? I just had it up to in between A and L and the fan didn't kick on.

I really don't like having to run my AC just to keep the fan on, but untill I figure this out I'm going to have to.

Anymore ideas/suggestions?

temp gage is not calibrated per say, the fans will turn on when the coolant high 212 degrees F

I would let the car idle and see if the fans come on

I would find a way to measure the coolant temp to see if you are getting to 212 to see if the fans will come on

I might try that next...the temperature gauge seems fairly accurate though, and I have yet to see a fan turn on. The temp gets high, I turn the air on, which turns the fan on, and the gauge goes back down.

my 98 zetec has the very same problem. i replaced the relay fuses the green and black ones. also the sensor ontop of the t-stat housing and still no fans. so im having the waterpump and timing job done. its time anyway for that. i am also looking for a wiring harness u might need to do the same. just a thought let me know if you get yours fixed and i will do the same .

I let it warm up tonight to about the L in normal, and the fan kicked in. I believe it was the highspeed fan. I may have get a hold of a thermo. and check some temperatures.

Replacing the timing belt and water pump shouldn't have anything to do with whether your fan works or not. Does you're fan turn on with the AC?

Any other comments on why the low speed doesn't turn on?
