Just get him something super cool that you know he wants, and that you can afford. If he's on the same wavelength as you and wants to show you his appreciation, he will. IT's the same deal with us hetero's. If you want to give a chick (that's just a friend for now) a gift (in the hopes of charming her undies off of her), then you get her something cool, but not so cheesey or overly inapproriate for a "friend" gift (i.e. you wouldn't buy her lingerie) such that she gets the drift buut doesn't think you're stalking her or beatig off to her photo every night (...well she doesn't have to think this, even if it may be true).
