So what's your problem with Korean cars? The Koreans are making some really great cars, and their quality is heads and tails above anything Ford or GM is making!! My next car will definitely be Asian. The American auto industry is almost dead, and when the Chinese decide to import their cars here, they will surely finish Ford and GM off. I've already heard rumors that Toyota plans to take over Ford and Honda plans to take over GM.
That is the most retarded thing I've ever read. I am sorry for you and your loved ones for having to live with your ignorance and stupidity.
Honda wouldn't even have enough money to buy a bankrupt GM let alone the fact that GM isn't bankrupt. I'm not even going to touch the 'Toyota plans to take over Ford' comment as it's just absurd.
You're probably one of those guys that believes the post in my signature and you'd be just as wrong and misinformed as the original poster of that comment.
As an effort to think about the possibility of either company going bankrupt and sold, there is no doubt that the US government would step in and stop any sale to a foreign company. The US economy is tied too closely to the auto industry (specifically the big 2.5) that a take over would never be allowed. And don't even start spouting off about DaimlerChrysler as that was a merger and not a takeover.
Did you ever read the article about the crash test of one of China's main auto manufacturer's cars? They've got a LONG way to go, especially with the way society looks at safety nowadays. It took the Koreans something like 15 years just to start to become a player in the auto game.

[censored] that [censored]. I will stay with my American Ford Taurus. Ford Taurus - Safe and reliable. My Contour was a reliable little car before I sold it. And quality? Lets take a Hyundai Tiburon... 2.7L V6 DOHC. 2003 vehicle. WELL maintained. Engine seized up, Hyundai said it was his fault.
Our 1994 Ford Escort LX, 1.9L I4, 180k on a 5 speed MTX, and STILL starts on the first try quickly, and continues to run like a new car.
Domestic hasn't failed us yet. Don't intend on it either.

that car's side profile is an Eclipse, and the front is from the tC. I bet both Toyota and Mitsu would be suing Chery if they were to try to bring that car to NA. Chery was already sued cause Chery's logo is a replica of Chevrolet's, not to mention the fact that the name is one replaced letter away from being Chevy. This kinda sh^* won't be tolerated in NA.
Furthermore, Malcolm Bricklin, who is the guy that will be importing them, is off his rocker and is a failed businessman.

I'd still buy a Briklin SV-1 in a heartbeat if I had the spare cash. I LOVE those cars!
Don't forget Donald Trump is a failed businessman too. He's been through bankruptcy. Don't count Bricklin out yet.

The problem with Chinese cars is they aren't built to the standards we demand. They look all bright and shiny, but their thinner metal and corners cut on welds make them deathtraps. Chery QQ

I would be suprised if this is true. Hyundai has improved tremendously in quality since they came to the US, but better than Toyota? not so much.

Hyundai's reliability rankings now tie Honda's according to Consumer Reports
I subscribe to consumer reports, and I have yet to see this data. Nonetheless, there is a measuable gap between Honda and Toyota, so even if Honda and Hyundai were the same it is still below toyota, which as my original statement said, Hyundai is not better than Toyota.

Toyota Fears Hyundai
While they might fear Hyundai indeed that statement is opinion.

Hyundai Sonata Ranked "Most Reliable Car in the US" by Consumer Reports, besting every automaker.
I don't see that in the link posted. Once again I am a member of CR and I have yet to see this data printed.

JD Power Ranks Hyundai #3 Manufacturer behind Lexus and Porsche, and the Tucson the #1 Crossover
I don't trust JD power worth an inch. Some of their studies are so stupid and skewed it isn't even funny.

And the list of accolades goes on and on and on. Hyundai generally scores better than Toyota (or at least as good as), thesedays, though usually not better than Lexus.
I still have yet to see much data proving this. While the current Hyundai's MIGHT equal Toyota, the long term data proves otherwise.
