Yes, they have a second in command stepping up already. He trained in afghanistan prior to coming to iraq. He was loyal to al-Zaqauri.

It was only when Al-zaqauri was cornered and jailed by americans. He left the camp being released mistakenly. Without us knowing it was him. Scared of being caught again and being weaken my the us-led invasion. He decided to give up his fight alone. He contacted osamsa for money and funding of militarty weapons with a constant supply of explosives. osama only played a role in iraq when in 2004 AL-zaqauri decided to join with him.
