think of it like CRT monitors vs. lcd's on a computer.

LCD's still have some way to go before they surpass a CRT in terms of picture quality.

I just hung a TV for this guy I know. He got a 50" plasma from dell. It was like $3200. Component, VGA and DVI in...plus all the others except hdmi. Better picture than any LCD tv i've ever seen. If you ask me, LCD tv'a look washed out and dull to me. That plus glare and poor viewing angle(s) are what keep me away. I don't really care if they're cheaper.

I'm haven't really looked at any tv's lately, but if there are any with displays like you see on newer laptops (xbrite, or xga??) then i have no complaints. Otherwise, plasma still wins.
