while having bright lights shined at me Jason, Saturn, and anybody else with ticket experience, let me know what I am into here. Basically, ticket written at 85+ in 65 zone, 12am going northbound on 280 (no traffic, for those that may be wondering). I think they just followed me for a while, without turning on a radar. There is no car # or no radar # on the sitation (plus V1 did not say a thing). I don't think this is such a good thing, because the discovery motion would not help. Two officers in the car (so virtually no chances of both not showing up). I got a clean record (well, until now), so no experience with dealing with speeding tickets. What am I looking at in terms of points? What are my options with traffic schools and how the selection works for that? Penalty($$$)? Any info would help.

Don't sweat it, if it's your first offense then you can go to traffic school. All the info you need will come in the mail. I'm not really sure what your fine will be, probably around $150 or so, most likely it will stay under $200. Me, I'm going to traffic school for the second time in July, I'm on my third ticket. My friend mike just got ticketed doing 95 on the freeway, so I can't wait to see what that is Remember when you go to traffic school, you cannot go for another 18 months (from the date of the ticket), so unless you want your insurance to go up then slow down! Email me, I can explain some good procedures and ideas, I also know a good traffic attorney. njones@apple.com DISCLOSURE: This is not legal advice, just some ideas! Things to do: TAKE IT TO COURT AND FIGHT IT! If this is your first, explain to the judge that you were in a hurry to go to an important place, TALK to him, dont act all scared and $hit. Definitely plead not guilty in your hearing, then at the trial (its not that big of a deal, not like OJ or something) if the cop shows up, plead no contest. NEVER PLEAD GUILTY. Also, get lawyer/attorney, they should charge anywhere from $200-$700, but it is worth it, because their first priority would be getting the citation thrown away completely! GOOD LUCK

The only reason you would want to hire a lawyer is if you already had a lot of points on your record, which hulegan does not, therefore no need to get a lawyer.
jees, you northern monkeys and your strange modes of though, must be the air up there! :p

well i'd probably just go to traffic school.
if you want to get daring: go to court plead not guilty and try things the way i did it. the thing with the discovery is that if they don't send you anything case is dismissed. so that might be worth the risk. i have no clue if most cops would send it or not.
but as was mentioned earlier, if you go to traffic school be good for 18 months so you dont have to put up with the bull**** of fighting a ticket.
