here is how I would troubleshoot this:

1) get a multi-meter with digital readout. There are inexpensive ones avalaible for less than $20 and is a good thing to have.

2) test the DC voltage at the amp (right on the terminals) between the +12V power wire from the battery and the ground cable. Engine and system can be off for this. If you get about 12.0-12.9 volts here, then the main power supply to the amps is fine. If less, then either there is a blown fuse in the power supply somewhere or you have a bad ground.

3) test the DC voltage at the amp (right on the terminals) between the remote turn on lead from the head unit and the ground cable. The system must be on for this. If you get about 12.0-12.9 volts here, then the remote turn on to the amps is fine. If less, then need to determine if there is a fuse on the turn-on lead (sometimes there is, but usually not) or id the deck output is not working (repeat test close to connections at rear of deck).

If the power from the battery and the turn on from the deck are fine, but the amp still does not power up, then check for any internal fuses that may have blown. I am not familiar with the Eclipse amps to know if there are any.

You mentioned a red light on the amp... it may be in protect mode. Again, I'm not familiar enough with eclipse to know, but the dealer in town should be.

There are more troubleshooting steps to take, but I'll wait to see if any of these work first.

the red light thing i'm talking about is on the stock svt amp, not my eclipse amp.

here's some pics of the set up, where the power wire splits, grounds, aftermarket amp, stock amp, and the 2 other things.

I think the other 2 things might be crossovers for the tweeters? Also, that doesn't look like the stock amp I had. Are any of the speakers working, or do you have no sound at all?

Where does the third Red power wire go after the distribution block? I see one going to the silver amp, and one going to the "stock" amp.

no sound at all out of any speakers or subwoofer. the 3rd power wire goes nowhere. it's sitting in the trunk, along with an extra ground and remote wire. it must be there so if he wanted to add something extra in the future.

Make sure you disconnect it at the distribution block, if it's just a wire it could start a fire. It could also short out your Battery if it touches metal.

Does the HU turn on? I'm still thinking it's a fuse somewhere, esp. since it was playing and now it isn't. Did you check the fuses on the amps themselves?

How long has teh system been played before it quit working. 1 Day, weeks, years?

HU works fine, i check the fuse on the aftermarket amp, not sure where the one on the stock amp is, unless its the little red thing, which doesn't look like a fuse, looks more like a light. this system set up has been in the car for at least 3 years, probably more.

Maybe check to see that the RCA cables aren't loose? I had a Sony amp that had to have the RCA's wiggeled once in s while. Other than that, are the amps getting power? Check voltage @ amp as stated above.

[censored] it, i give up, it's time for an upgrade, but this is how i recieved the car so a few questions. did the stock amp do anything when the car was new? did it power the speakers or anything, or do i even need it for the speakers? if i don't need it, i'd like to lose it and take it out along with the other [censored], and i'm gonna get a brand new deck, amp and sub, and put it in myself, so i know what the [censored] is going on if it ever breaks again.
