Tell me about it. My favorite uncle jumped into Normandy w/ the 101st the night before the LCVPs/Higgins boats landed. He still limped decades later from the wounds he took later at Bastogne, where he talked the medics and then the surgeons out of amputating a leg. My aunt was a hero for dealing with him: she lived through 40 years of him fighting jerries in his sleep in the same bed. My family has no problem remembering each June.

I watched "D-Day" on the Military Channel last night and boy did it tug at the heart-strings watching those old diggers cry, remembering their fallens brothers.

Thanks to them we aren't all speaking German today.
