That's the thing about world record attempts, though. You have to be willing to make the attempt and fail. I can't help but wonder if an owner who'd paid $1M+ would run the risk of not beating the Ultima. It's like how Ferrari forbade any instrumented road-testing of the F50 (I think it was the F50) by car magazines and warned F50 owners against loaning their cars out, with the threat that you wouldn't be allowed to buy any more Ferraris if you let yours get tested.
