That's the thing about world record attempts, though. You have to be willing to make the attempt and fail. I can't help but wonder if an owner who'd paid $1M+ would run the risk of not beating the Ultima. It's like how Ferrari forbade any instrumented road-testing of the F50 (I think it was the F50) by car magazines and warned F50 owners against loaning their cars out, with the threat that you wouldn't be allowed to buy any more Ferraris if you let yours get tested.

The Veyron should come close if it does 0-100 in 6 seconds.

Other numbers:

It's hard to compare though, since different test surfaces will yield different results.

For instance:

I personally love the way the Caparo T-1 looks:

If they hit their estimated numbers (0-60 in 2.0 seconds, 0-100 in 5.0 seconds), 3g cornering and braking, it should beat the Ultima GTR number by a nice margin.

What the hell is up with those Z06 numbers? That very apparantly isn't a new Z06 with a 0-60 of 4.1 seconds . Try more like 3.xxx. They were probably testing the LS6-powered Z06 from the early 00's. I love how the Roush Mustang is slower than the Mustang GT BTW!

It all depends on the track. Check out the 997 Carrera S and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage times. Every powerful car there is pretty traction limited.

The Z06 will not do in the 3 second range unless you're on a pretty ideal surface. Cars like the Caterham (with ultra-sticky tires) and Gallardo (with AWD) have better than expected times in relation because of this.

True. But what good is measuring capabilities unless you do it on a good surface?

because "average" (or less) surfaces will reflect 90% of the worlds driven surfaces (and will be over rated for most of that!

my car will FALL faster than any other SVT has ever seen, but that's not something that's likely to happen, and niether is being on the top 8-10% of the worlds best surfaces.

I'd say "average" (or less) surfaces IS a good measure of a car's abilities.

It's a car to car test, so it gives you a backdrop for comparison.

BTW, Motor Trend, April 2006 tested the Z06 and got 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. Not too far off this number. Those cr@ppy run-flat tires the Z06 are just horrid on many surfaces.
