I've had better luck w/ regular Excedrine (as oppoosed to the migraine specific stuff). Gets rid of my headaches in about 30-45 minutes.

Bupap is the best drug I've found for headaches. Some doctors will not prescribe Bupap because it's addictive.

My new doctor refused to prescribe Bupap so now I have to take two Aleves. The Aleves take hours to work and sometimes don't work. The Bupap would cure my headache in a few minutes.

Mine don't make me sensitive to light, but rather movement. The slightest movement of my head will send waves of throbbing pain through it.

I've found it usually takes me 800-1000 mg of Ibuprofen to even begin to give me relief. I'll usually try and sleep mine off if it hits late in the day.

Well, the pain has subsided for now. Still hurts but not to the point where I wanna shoot myself anymore. I went to the doctor and they didn't think it was a migraine at all. They think it's a tension headache of sorts. I'm supposed to take 3-4 200 mg of Ibuprofen every 6-8 hours. Hopefully it stops though.

Migraine headaches are such wonderful things, really.

Aleve is useless. Ibuprofen is useless. Tylenol doesn't do s*&^, unless I take it at just about the very moment my pre-headache aura begins. The ONLY thing that I've ever taken that has stopped the migraine dead once it got started is a couple of Vicodin or a couple of Tylenol #3. (doctor not keen on prescribing that stuff AT ALL, so I usually have to do without)

Try having migraines on a monthly basis, guys. Especially when they run anywhere from 24 to 87 hours in length.

I'll get a migraine about once every couple of months and its the most miserable thing I can think of. The best non-prescription pill I've used is Excederin Migraine. I have to take about double the recommended dose for it to do anything.

I've had a migraine for longer than that. Nothing worked to get rid of it. I was in bed with the heating pad on the back of my neck and an ice bag on top of my head. I wanted to die.

The Dr.finally gave me something to try and knock me out so I could sleep (sleep it off too).

I've taken Imitrex but it did nothing to help my headache. It was back in the day where it was only available in an injection form. I'd give myself the shot and it would space me out so bad that I couldn't get the needle back in the case.

Tried Depekote (sp), bata-blockers, calcium channel blockers, none of them helped. Now I have some good narcotics that I take. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't.

Best advice... take the meds as soon as you feel the headache start. Most meds won't help once the headache is in full swing. A nice hot shower helps too.

Great website Tony. There is some real good information on there.

Hope you feel better!

I'm with you on that one! Not fun! Mine last about that long also but I get them many times in a month.

I just got a similar diagnosis, but the headaches are much different. Mine are in the forehead, around the eyes, and in the base of the skull; and usually accompanied by light-headedness plus nausea. Moving my head too much will make it much worse. It started about four months ago. The neurologist prescribed an anti-depressant which acts as a muscle relaxant. If it doesn't go away in three months I get to do the fun stuff like MRI's, but he's pretty sure its tension related. Maybe not coincidentally, the headaches started immediately following a very stressful time for me at work back in February; do you have anything that you can think of that's stressing you?
