Happened to my 2000 too. Happened the day before I left for a trip up the California coast. This was over a year ago. I patched up the old resistor and it's still working. Went to Ford, they wanted $33 for a new one. So I went looking on the net. Found the Ford part for under $10. But then I had to pay almost as much for shipping. The part came about 15 minutes ago. But the old part, with my patch job, still works.

BTW: Had Ford do an Oasis search and there was no resistor problem listed for the 2000.

When my GL did this it was shaorted wiring and they said the recall didn't apply. So I bought the kit for changing it over then I just took the 4 inches of wire out and plugged it straight into the resistor pack no problem.

Swapped resistors this morning. The new one is quite different. How can I add a picture? I don't have a web page or place on the net to put it.

Imageshack is free with unlimited numbers of pictures, doesn't reset your pictures after 30 days like some (photobucket, etc?) and is easy to use.

Put the new blower resistor pack on yesterday and it works like a charm. From the Ford dealership with taxes included it was only $14. Thanks for all of your help guys!

Thanks. Here is the picture:

You can see my repair on the old resistor. I unwound some of the burnt section and just spliced the Nichrome wire. Cleaned the wire, twisted it together and soldered it. Solder doesn't stick to Nichrome, so twisting it is the trick. The Solder just holds it together. The new resistor was made in Germany. The connector is turned 90 degrees. Just for grins I ran the blower with the resistor in my hand just to see how hot it gets without the blower's airflow. Gets warm:)

Yup they do get hot, the electrical aspect is the voltage that doesn't make it threw gets let out as heat.
