Talk to
ohsigmachi about the coatings. He is building one helluva turbo Zetec. He has pretty much everything coated in some way. Check out
his cardomain site to see what I mean.
As far as the DIY P&P... If the person knows what they are doing, you can get some really good gains. I'm not sure of anyone on the CEG that has a DIY P&P job on their Zetec head.
You could ask around on the
Focus Fanatics or
Focaljet forums. You are more likely to fond more DIY stuff over there.
Even though the price is steep, you could get a professional P&P jopb done by
Cosworth/Focus Sport. It's a whopping $950. (Actually $1250 total, $950 for a new head with the P&P job and a $300 core.) You may be able to contact Focus Sport directly and send them your head for a reduced cost.
