Just got my CSVT and I'm already running into problems. Every now and then, when decelerating with the clutch engaged, the engine just shuts off. It starts back no problem but its extememly annoying since i've done nothing to make the thing stall. It seems so happen 99% of the time when in 3rd or 4th gear and traveling downhill. my CSVT is completely stock with the standard MTX 2.5L Duratec

Could this be a fuel starvation problem, need new fuel pump or filter?

ANy help on the matter will be greatlty appreciated

Welcome . How many miles? Check Engine light on? Scan it (free service at Autozone or Advance) and post the codes.

it has 96000 miles. the check engine light comes on when the engine shuts off but is not on during normal driving

i've the term pulling codes thrown around here. could someone explain what this means? I can really get this done at autozone for free?

Yes, free "pulling" of Check Engine Light codes at Advance or Autozone (in the hopes that you will buy the parts from them). Get the exact code from them and post.

If you want to purchase one, code readers/scanners start from about $75 up.

Start by cleaning your throttle body and IAC (idle air control) valve. Very likely it is all you need.

thanks for the info. however, i have very limited mechanical knowledge as far as where these things are located, what they look like, and how to actually clean them

if no one feels like explaining i understand cause it would prolly be painstaking. but is their maybe a thread already on here showing how to do this? i searched but couldnt find anything

thanks for all the help
