no..
its just colder air.. your "ram air" is just pushing air into the other side of the filter.
You need to have 0 bends going into the UIM for it to be a Ram air.
Ram Air does not have to be a straight shot, while that would be the preference in most cases it is not possible do to clearances. It only needs to be a sealed path from the intake scoop to the TB/intake manifold that passes through a filter...usually the flat type. What he has is a simple CAI that just sucks air from a location other then the engine compartment that is COLDER. No air is forced or "Ramed" even if the headlight is removed...will it help? yeah probably a little at the track but is it "Ram Air"...no.
Here is a typical example of a "Ram Air" setup for a pick-up.

yeah, thats half the reason why you do a CAI, a bigger constant metal pipe keeps the airflow more controled, as well as a better area for cooler air, which we all know cooler air=better for engine. As well as it makes a nice throaty sound when you get on the gas... I got a nice little short ram setup for the C-Rolla and it sounds angry when you get on the gas pedal.
Ummm.No?
Metal pipe=heat soak=higher temperature of the incoming air. Plastics, rubbers, and aluminum are far better materials for constructing intakes due to their relatively quick heat up and down properties. Also, you might be missing the whole "budget CAI" thing. The whole point was not to shell out a billion dollars for something I could make myself for $65.
Anyway, my intake sounds much better in person than in that little video clip. THe whole setup does register pretty well on the kick in the pants-ometer, and I'm glad I did it.
If your gonna qoute someone, at least qoute that person and not me. In my response, I did not describe the materials used, just the logic and the outcome.
But im not going much farther than that statement right there. Because you obviuosly need more schoolin in the real world of automotive, and not Ricer University.

Actually, it IS possible for me to do the "Straight" Ram Air thing. All I have to do its get some E-fans, an HD hood, and an intake from a Camaro SS.
As for mr. Git R Done. I don't think you should be calling ME rice. Last time I checked I'm the one with the domestic V8 here, not you. Second of all, I was tackling to arguments with one stone, sorry if that confused you there.

And i have a.... oh thats right, a Ranger. Sorry but an engine size and make of a vehicle does not decifer the ability for one to be considered "rice".
But all hail the owner of the "DOMESTIC V8". I salute you and your lack of knowledge.
