care to explain your false logic...WS6 Trans Am and Camaro SS both have true "Ram Air" intake systems not just blowing air on a filter. Air is fed directly into the intake from the hood opening/scoops and forced into the intake through a filter not just blowing around. The intake electronics/MAF are designed to handle the large amount of air being forced into the TB unlike typical "non-ram air" systems. Also in the old day's ('60's) the Pontiac GTO's, Firebird's and Buick GS also had true "Ram Air" as well. The Pontiac's had different Ram Air Heads for their Ram Air motors to handle the increased air being forced directly into the engine. True "Ram Air" systems directly forces air into the intake..."Cold Air" does not.
Besides what's the "mullet" have to do with Trans Am ram air anyway

So technically a filter with cold air being blown into it isn't a Ram Air setup? I don't see the difference other than the completely enclosed filter.
So I make a plexiglass box around the filter and poof! Ram Air! Ya happy now? Anyway, the fact is I CAN have Ram Air, and much easier than most vehicles. Unfortunately, that setup isn't street legal, and I can only use it at the track. However, setup as I have it now, All I really need to do is make a plexiglass lid to go over the filter and a 3rd-gen radiator style flap to force air into the filter.

yeah, thats half the reason why you do a CAI, a bigger constant metal pipe keeps the airflow more controled, as well as a better area for cooler air, which we all know cooler air=better for engine. As well as it makes a nice throaty sound when you get on the gas... I got a nice little short ram setup for the C-Rolla and it sounds angry when you get on the gas pedal.
Ummm.No?
Metal pipe=heat soak=higher temperature of the incoming air. Plastics, rubbers, and aluminum are far better materials for constructing intakes due to their relatively quick heat up and down properties. Also, you might be missing the whole "budget CAI" thing. The whole point was not to shell out a billion dollars for something I could make myself for $65.
Anyway, my intake sounds much better in person than in that little video clip. THe whole setup does register pretty well on the kick in the pants-ometer, and I'm glad I did it.

except your intake goes through a pipe, a ram air goes from the outside, to a filter through a small STRAIGHT pipe and into the intake manifold, making it a RAM AIR cause its basically ramming the air into the intake manifold. Your intake is just a cold air intake with colder air going to it.

But that cold air would be blowing into the filter. SO it would be kinda like half and half Ram Air/CAI.

no..
its just colder air.. your "ram air" is just pushing air into the other side of the filter.
You need to have 0 bends going into the UIM for it to be a Ram air.

Fuggin' b00ns! A true ram air setup does not have ANY bends in it. You need a straight line right to the manifold. You do not. You will not - ever. Unless you wanna get rid of that radiator fan, and a section of radiator. Even then it's not gonna flow like a car with true (and the only kind) of ram air. You've built yourself a nice cold air intake, i'll give you that. But you have not created a ram air intake. Whether you understand the difference or not, you're still wrong. Get over it.
