so last week i was loading some stuff into my trunk and i ended up scratching the top part of the bumper. its not a deep scratch but its through the clear. i tried using the clay bar last night, but it didnt do any good. how can i get this out without re-clearing the spot?! as you can see, its the " ^ " looking thing there. i did search for this but i didnt find much about surface scratches that werent swirl marks thanks kevin

Find someone with a polishing wheel that knows how to wheel a car out.

For something like that a wheel is probably your best bet. BTW the clay bar ISN'T for removing scrathes, it removes embedded contaminents from the top layer of the paint, but you could try some Mequiars scratch-X or some clearcoat safe rubbing compound first

well the only reason i used the clar bar was because in all of my searches, everyones first responce was to clarbar it. ill deffinatly look into the Mequiars scratch-X.
thanks guys!

then it should buff out with a polishing wheel.

Rotary or a PC? I got a bunch of these on my car that i want gone, i used a PC to get some out, but the bigger ones(that i didnt put as much effort into cause i didnt think i could get them) didnt go away.

i think he was referring to an orbital like a pc. u may have to go over the spot a few times with an orbital. if it still isnt going away then it may require heavier compounding and a rotary if u know how to use it safely.
