Legos are water-tight (within reason of course) when you put them together and, being plastic, they float rather readily. The thing would float no doubt. The problem is that it would be too bouyant and would flip over in a heartbeat. That's what the purpose of the large base it's sitting on is, I'm sure -- it acts as a keel to keep the thing from flipping over.
I beg to differ! I would take ALL my Lego boats in the bath tub and every one of them would take on water! And no, I ain't talking about those "cheater boats" with the one-piece hulls either. I'm talking the bottom of my boat is frickin flat Lego vessels...
