So THAT'S what I keep getting wrong. Rubber side DOWN, shiny side ... up? Dang, I need to write that down.

(Nope, not saying you're a fool for posting that ... just saying that I seem to have a problem keeping my bikes undamaged....)

Give Scorpian Helmets a try. I have one and it is beautiful for street riding...I prefer Arai...but they run a bit tight on me. On a track I want it...the high speeds do not move the arai but at high speed my Scorpian does tend to push back into my face a tad tioo much...

And dont even think about wearing a "bedpan" for a helmet. (half-helmet) Most of (19% I think) helmet inpacts for a motorcycle rider are the right side chin area. I wear an Arai RX-7 Corsair. Very expensive, but also has the best airflow of all the helmets I've tried. After six concussions in 27 years I'm not taking ANY chances. I figure your brain will only take so much before you start drooling and crapping yourself!

One word of warning for when you do go shopping - beware of the flip-face helmets. They're solid, but the temptation is to leave the face up some of the time.

One guy that was in a riding class I took a couple of years back was practicing low-speed maneuvers, and turned just a little too sharply, tipping his bike over. He wasn't able to get his hands entirely under him as he fell, and he face-planted.

What would have been a scuffed helmet turned into tooth loss. Half of his front teeth - and I mean the teeth were broken in half - were gone because he had a flip-face helmet with the face up.

Sure it's better than a certain football-player-who-shall-remain-nameless, but if you can have full-face protection for less money, why wouldn't you?

Just a thought.
