Much as I like the Subaru STi (I'm biased, of course), given your list of candidates I think you'd be well-served to look at a Subaru Legacy GT.

If, however, you need to get something off of your list, get the G35. Those things sound SOOOOO sweet.

'Course, the STi and the Evo are in your price range if they're used....

On the 'won't get the urge to mod it' subject, I think that the urge to modify a car is a result of 1) creativity, and 2) eventual boredom with a car that's the same as it was yesterday and the day before. Your creativity sure isn't going to just vanish with a new (to you) car, and the boredom will set in eventually as well, once you adapt to the new car.

Look at it this way: When (not if, when) you do get bored, which one will be cheapest and easiest to tweak to relieve your boredom? A Cobra, or a Lightning ... or an STi, Legacy, or Evo.

Wheeeeeeee forced induction!

BTW, MadMike ... my parents' Subaru Legacy Turbo Wagon was built 90+% in the USA, while my '96 Ford Contour SE was built in Mexico. Not discrediting your entire argument, just pointing out that in the global automotive market, nationalism is tricky because cars can be built just about anywhere.
