Hi,

I have just had the pleasure of resurrecting a 98 LX Zetec with a blown engine from the bowels of hades, and everything has gone great so far , besides the occasional contour quirk. However this one has really stumped me. Ok I pulled vacuum on system. Held it overnight (was late when I did it) Checked it next morning vacuum still good. (No Leak) :-)
I put a charge on it or (This is when the problem occured) tried to rather, however I could not get the compressor to stay on! I jumped the cycling switch. No cigar. It would just come on for a sec or two kick off and stay off, until i pulled the jumper and jumped it again. Just so you guys know I have replaced the low side cycling switch, I know there is a switch on the high side, 4 pin and I am wondering if that may be the root of my evils. Just wanna know before i Un-A** the money for that switch. I can get the A/C to cool but that is if I turn the knob from panel to A/C until the compressor finally kicks off then from panel to A/C again and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is hot and sticky here in houston texas. thanks

Yes the refrig level is perfect Hi/Lo ...

Ambient Temp 88°

Low (Suction) Pressure: 35 +/- PSI
High (Discharge) Pressure: 200 +/- PSI

These Pressures are observed when I have manually forced the A/C to get cold VIA the methods used in my original Post.
Otherwise the static pressure is around 85-100 PSI depending on temperature.
