Yep...too bad the Steward's DQ'd him...and both he and Masa are starting from last place on the grid.
Brilliant qualifying move that backfired on him...

is this true? I don't want to go to the F1 website, b/c I don't want to know who won teh race before it airs on CBS.

What happened? Did the guy head the wrong direction down the track or something?

Oh yes, it is true. They DQ'd him and he will start from the back of the grid. What I don't know, is whether or not he will have to start with the race conditions he would have had on pole or get to change his race strategy. The reports didn't say. I would think since it is a punishment, he would have to keep the same fuel and stuff, but who knows? I guess we will find out once the race airs (which isn't for a half hour here).
Fisi was also docked for holding up Coulthard during qualifying. His three fastest laps were taken away, and we will start 10th instead of 5th.
Should be interesting now. This now moves Barrichello up to 5th and they think he is on a one stop strategy since he was a full 1.2 seconds behind Montoya, who will start fourth.

Time was just about out in final qualifying session. Michael was ahead of Alonso on the track, and Alonso was faster than him in the first sector by 3 tenths. Everyone knew Alonso was going to take pole. In the last sharp corner (La Rascasse) Michael feigned a lock up and slid out blocking the turn (which is really tight). Amazingly enough (NOT!) he didn't hit the wall or take off a front wing or tire. That brought out yellow flags slowing everyone down. Alonso then couldn't take the true line on the corner and had to slow and finished his lap .064 behind Michael. He would have taken the pole away had Michael not pulled his little stunt. Steve Matchet was so not fooled by it. Sir Jackie Stewart came out saying it wasn't an accident. It was not one of Michaels shinning moments!

Aye. If it was flagrant or not, it was not something a 7-time champion would've done.

I hate CBS when they cover F1, the announcers are annoying and they cut away from the podium ceremony every time. Arghhh it just infuriates me!!!!! I had come to terms with the 1 announcer when they teamed him up with the 1 of the normal speed announcers, but now to have 2 yankees doing it was horiffic!!!

Agreed. CBS's coverage sucks in comparison to Speed. I hate that they cut off the anthems and the interviews. And there is NOTHING on post race discussion. Is Speed replaying it later this week?
As for Schumacher, it was clearly staged. Yes, he entered the turn wrong and locked the front right tires. But, he recovered from it with near perfection, found a line, and then drove straight toward the barricade and stopped!
Poetic justice for Alonso to take the win. Although Schumacher's 5th place finishe, from last, was nothing short of amazing.
Too bad for Kimi, and REALLY too bad for Webber. I thought Webber had a podium in the bag until the Kablamo.
