It has a limiter that engages when the Contour/Mystique is in park.

IIRC, in drive, the limiter is 6750.

It's all programmed into your PCM so that you don't throw a piston through your hood.

The stock con rods and pistons are cast. You woudn't want to go over 7k rpms.
