Finally got my contour running after months of occasionally work. It runs real well down the road, but refuses to idle. It will idle when cold, but once it warms up and idle speed drops, it cuts out.

Put a MAF today, didn't help. Hooked it up to my buddies scanner, was getting good readings on IAC, but TPS and EGR said 0??? I'm confused. I wouldn't think it would run if those to sensors werent' functioning.

EDIT: It's a 1995 2.0 and the SES is not on.

Thanks in advanced.

timing could be a notch, not sure what kinda work you did but everytime mine warmd up it would stall (timing was off 1 notch) it would drive fine but would stall everytime you stopped.

Any other suggestions? I'm pretty sure the timing is good.

How about an idle solenoid?

I had one fail at about 35,000 miles, resulting in no idle.

The check engine light never went on.

Well It's still not idleing. I've put about 50 miles on since the head gasket, hoping it may have just need run. Drives like a champ down the road, but as soon as I stop it dies. It's a PITA having to use clutch, gas, and break all at once to keep it running at a stop sign.

The check engine light did come on and shut off twice tonight, but was only on for a few seconds.

I'm confused, but I do enjoy the car. Much better on gas than my blazer, and a heck of a lot smoother to drive.

I really don't think it is off. It may be, but I had a very trusted mechanic that I know come down and check over the timing once we finished and he said it was ok. I may check it, even though I really don't feel like taking the valve cover off again.
