Running into an issue with my state inspection...because my reverse lights do not work.

Initially, I thought it was the bulbs...but through looking at this, found it to be with the sensor located under the MAF on top of the tranny.

I pulled out the harness to the sensor and jumped it with a wire and saw the lights go on...so I see that it is an issue with this white box. Thing is, I cannot get all the bolts off this box to replace it.

Anybody go through this? I wondering what this box is called so I can order one...plus any tricks on getting it off that might help me.

Thanks...

I had a similar problem where when I put it in reverse the lights would flash on for a few seconds then turn off... I found out that I had to push the shifter into reverse a little more and the lights would turn on if I held it... probably a lazy switch.. I dont know.... This was also on a rod shift...

I looked at that autozone link above...if it were only that easy

I only have one harness attached to this device...and while I can remove the air intake and MAF, I cannot get all the bolts off this thing. It almost appears like I would need to drop the transaxle or take the plenum off to get to 2 of the bolts.

As for the shifter...even if I pull hard, I still cannot get the lights to go. I also tried pulling on the cable, just to make sure it wasn't something with the B&M short shifter.

mine does the same thing. and when i pull the shifter back the lights work. when I let it go, it usually sets the bulbs off. I think there is a little switch that has to be cleaned/replaced. could be the one you are talking about, or something that is actually bellow the stick shift booth. i've never looked into it though.
did you check your fuses??
