Sorry, but I couldn't wait till the car is totally done. I just peeled the masking off an hour ago. The pics aren't the best quality due to poor lighting in the garage. I will post finals when it's done in another week or so. I really miss driving it!
The story:
I totalled the car back in February and I had to fix most of it myself. We bought the back section of a green Mystique and had it welded in by a local body shop. They also straightened the frame which was bent 3/8". I have been sanding and priming my brains out the past week. Its been cool and rainy for the past 4 days and is forecasted to rain this entire week but we got a break today so we painted the body. The bumper covers still need the final coat and I have to buff the body as well as wash the whole car.
The body came out pretty good considering it was done in a garage and not a professional paint booth. The paint shop people said there were 9 different formulas for my color but it seems like they matched it dead on, but I haven't seen it in sunlight yet. My dad was the one who did the final painting. Only 2 runs in the clearcoat and 3 transition lines to sand out...not too bad for a backyard job IMO. Here is a quick step-by-step so far:
