At a minimum, a drain and refill of the ATFluid before embarking on the journey. I think Sears is open on Sundays. Press the "OD-off" button, so that it does not even try to go to OD. Start the journey early so that she is not stranded on the highway at night. Stop every hour for a half hour break to let the tranny cool down.
The other "non-options". 1)I have AAA Plus, so if it were me, I would drive 100 miles and then have them tow me home the rest of the 100 miles. 2) Have her rent (borrow from friend) a car and drive home, then you tow-dolly the rented (borrowed) vehicle back and then tow-dolley the Contour home.
Hope that everything works out fine.
