I would include the Ushers. You don't have to get them the same gift as the grooms men, but they should get some sort of gift. For my wedding, which is this July, I already got each of the grooms men a pair of matching Oakley sunglasses. My wedding ceremony is taking place outdoors, instead of in a church, so the grooms men will all where their matching shades down the asile!

If you are doing a common gift, the ushers really should get the same thing. It looks bad otherwise.

I got some binoculars from my one brother I thought was cool. I got a nice cordless jigsaw (long story) from my best friend when he got amrried. I gave personalized gifts to my groomsmen including ushers. Swiss army knift, letherman, sunglasses, and a nice watch for my best man.

The Advisor in the recent issue of Playboy gave some good advice on this topic.
He recommended things like a night out or massages rather than the usual flask or engraved gifts.
And I think $30-50 range is about average.
We had all couples in our wedding party, so we gave them gifts to share. I think we spent about $75 per couple.

I don't think $30-50 is too much. Remember, these guys are paying for their tuxes, and giving up a perfectly good weekend (especially if they are traveling) to help you out. Be good to your ushers and groomsmen. Perhaps we have a different definition of usher, but all of my ushers stood up with me at the front. The one person who you may want to do something extra special for is your best man.
Personalized gifts are the best option. I wish I had spent more time on the gifts I gave my groomsmen. I didn't even think to personalize it because I thought it was tradition to get them all the same thing. Things like flask are appreciated by the college age crowd, but once he is old enough to know better, it becomes a dust collector somewhere. Memories are probably the best thing - the guy who posted about the a skins jersey and Patriots (GO PATS!) movies was right on. Those are great gifts that will always be appreciated. I would avoid events like paying for a trip to the barber - you should do that anyways.

Kenneth Cole toiletry bag with a stainless holder complete with file, scissors, nail clippers, etc.
Jack knives
Mugs. Big beer mugs with a pewter sign with my name engraved on it. Do not get this!

No kidding. $120+ for a tux, buy you dollar dances at bachelor party, drinks etc. Wedding gift etc. I think I spend about $300 to be a bestman, groomsman. $50 is the least they can do. James you should be b!tch slapped for that comment you cheap arse!

I ended up breaking all the tools off my Gerber since they were made out of soft metal.
I've got a new Leatherman, and I've put a lot more stress on it than on my Gerber, and it's held up... a little bent now, but it still works!
