listen you sally homemakers, if you want to drag go get a mustang or something. if you want to run a road course, which what our cars are supposed to do , then that is something i would love to participate in. as a rule of thumb dont drag 4 door cars. lets do a roadcourse event. how cool would that be?

What if you enjoy both?  It may not be the fastest in the 1/4...but it's still a good time. For the record i'ld be up for a road course challenge any day as well....

listen mikey, i know you're a smart guy, so i will try to take it easy on you. there's already a drag race "event" planned for SZ, is there not? you will notice this thread is in the "SZ" section. connecting any dots yet? i'll string it together for you. hector and i have been messing with each other about each others car and who's would be faster at SZ for a while now. steeda decided to take it a step further and make it into a EGL v. WGL thing.
i don't think you're going to be renting any road courses with two weeks notice... hence the "too late" comment. again, we're discussing this in the SZ forum.

and i wouldn't say badly outmatched. what i lack in corner speed, i'd probably make up for on the straights. and it's not like my car can't be made to handle. heck, for less than what you paid for your '75 eldorado colored seats, i'm sure i could get it to corner as good or better than a CSVT.

Ya i know, I have raced there a few times and the straights kill the contour.
I think at Gingerman a Contour can hang with a GT depending on mods

No roadcourse at SZ06. The closest one is in Indy, and we didn't schedule anything. So we're settling for the dragstrip.

I think barge and Hector should race and you vs GTO pete (hes something like W great lakes)
Obviously as stated before You can race hector at some other time. but i think for the Shootout its a better match

Just a thought, last year I ran a 15.4 from this thread. That time was with these mods, mods in bold have since been added. Transmission: HMS built transmission Spec Stage 1 Clutch Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel Quaife Limited Slip Differential Updated Shift Tower B&M short shifter Intake Setup: Rebuilt UIM & LIM Aussie intake K&N 3530 w/ heat shield BAT MAF Adapter Suspension: Poly filled rear trans mount Poly inserts on front trans mount Rear Strut Brace Koni sport kit Subframe connectors Exhuast: Magnaflow mufflers Magnaflow hi flow resonator Gutted precats w/ MILs MSDS Headers Opt y pipe Maintanence: Ford Racing 9mm wires Autolite Double platinums (.054) Valvaline High mileage every 2,800 to 3,200 Royal Purple Synchromax Yeah I know the mods arent much, but for what its worth it should shave off a little bit of time. diff is different than a exhuast rattle. I raced the SHO and the exhuast fell off on the track!!! gain 2mph on that run

It would be cool as hell if they'd let Hector and Derek race out there in the rain Although being 76 miles away, I'm not sure how many would go out and see a couple races, but it would be cool none the less!

Especially when the driver needs to learn how to do smokey launches... get practicing.. it's the key to world domination.
And the lowest Stage 2 STI i've seen is like 12.5-12.6 which would be Mid-12's :-P
Faster on the highway though... stupid gear ratios...not to mention bigger engine and turbo.. cheater.

At least with the STi I can re-flash the map for economy - on the non-Chicago leg of my trip home this year, I actually averaged 27.671 miles per gallon. Not quite what a Prius would get, but then a Prius wouldn't be as much fun when I flash the "normal" map onto the ECU.

The lowest out-of-the-box Stage 2 STi I've seen ran a 12.5 uncorrected. Considering that I picked up another 20 hp and 45 ft-lbs when it was pro-tuned, the tuner was estimating that if I can drive it well, it should gain .1-.2 seconds in the quarter. 'Course, it's all just supposition. The proof will be on a timeslip, if I can drive the bloody thing well enough. Remember those taller gears we were talking about...?
Hey, I can do smokey launches with the best of 'em. Only, MY smoke comes from the clutch.
