My wife drives a Maxima. Currently the car has about 150K on it. We have never had an issue with the car. I have replace tires and brakes and nothing else; not even spark plugs (every time I pull and test them they are perfect). The car has power and refinement, while there is some torque steer, it is no where near as bad as the V6 Altima. When we replace her car later this year it will likely be with another Maxima. If you want a four door sedan, I would give the Maxima a serious look.

Sounds like you want a 2003 Maxima. Maybe a 2004+, though the dashboard design is a bit different.

I normally don't go recommending my car to people but it sounds right up your alley.

The Acuras look great, and I plan to test drive one soon.

If you want to keep the cost down, you might check out the Cobalt SS with supercharger. It's probably on par with what the Contour was, but they look like they're better appointed. Even without the supercharger, the SS is probably a fun little car.

I honestly don't care much for the Evo. The race type seats are uncomfortable and the interior is full of cheap feeling plastics. If I was up for picking up a fast car as the first priority I would be looking at the EVO's, SRT's and what have you. The only model that has my interest is the Mazda Speed 6 just cause the car is a beast built off the Contour platform.

The Cobalt...eh. I've already labelled it as a cavalier but I'm not sure on the specs I think supercharged its got about 210 hp (give or take). The other cars on the list have that much HP already. The interior numbers don't look big enough to fit my frame comfortably (especially at the knees) but I'll look into it.

Maxima, my manager has one, she has a lower model of it full of all things cheap, but its an impressive vehicle and one that I haven't considered up until yesterday. I got online to check out picks of the interior of the more pricey version and they do look good. Oddly enough, the car only seems to look good in Black . I think I'm gonna do some more research and narrow it down to 4-5 cars today. Keep the ideas coming.

BTW...it took 2 and a half years but I got to 300 POSTS...

I'm pretty sure it isn't built of the contour platform. IT shares the same platform with the ford fusion and mercury millan. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Mazda speed 6 still would be a good choice.

I might stand corrected off of that. Someone with more knowledge should probably ring on that. I though it was similarly platformed. Either way, when I drove it I did think alot of the contour, more so than I did with the Fusion.
