Some of you may know that when I'm not tinkering with the car I'm a musician and studio engineer. Here's a tune I worked out a couple weeks back... figure a couple of you guys might be interested. I wrote, sang, and played everything except drums. I did all the recording/editing, and mixing as well. Let me know what ya'll think. www.myspace.com/andrewcammermusic

Great beat, the voice needs a little boosted, some parts its hard to understand cause it's too quiet, others its too loud.

Yea... I'm pretty self-concious about myself singing, so I tend to mix it farther back that it should be. A rule of thumb is to never mix your own stuff... but I'm not too serious about this thing.

you shouldn't be, I myself don't have the balls to sing in front of people let alone record/write my own song and post it for everyone to listen to.

The music is great. Tighten up the voice and be confident.
What else do you have? And may I add it to my playlist?

Sounds pretty good! I'm also an engineer, but as a full-time job. I am also now producing when I have time away from the studio. It's hard to tell from these computer speakers, but it sounds like a decent mix. Your vocals sound very decent, just clean them up with the good ol' Antares ATR 1 vocal tuner. It's much better than the plug-ins that come with pro tools and such. Even if you don't run them through a tuner, your vocals are better than a lot of the stuff out there.

That was pretty freaking sweet. I just finished going through one of my blues/roots rock phases, and that song would have fit right in. The playing was very tight, with little or none of the excessive noodling typical of amateur bands. Concise, to the point, and well-played. The vocals kind of remind me of Jerry Cantrell or Gordon Downie. I agree with the poster who suggested taking your time and not rushing the song when singing. I'll check out the rest of your stuff. So far me likey

Yea, the mix is decent. The guitars are pretty decent... the rhythmn parts are both awesome, the lead wasn't top notch. The drums are pretty tight too. The lowend on the mix isn't what it could be, its pretty loose/out of control. I mixed this at school, and I never really warmed up to the HR824s they had. Too good, they hide a lot of stuff. Everything from 130hz on down was really hard to get ahold of in that studio. My place at home I have a much better feel for. The MasterX plugin sounds pretty crappy too, but its better than no mastering at all.
All the tracking took place inside of 2 hours... and most of the was writing the song and deciding on the form. I just had some free time one afternoon and nobody was around, so I popped it right out. Its only got about 2-3 hours of mix time on it as well, certianly not finished.
As for the singing, thats one of the only recordings I've ever done with my own vocals... I don't like my voice much, its certainly not the forte of my music abilities. Its got the digidesign something or other autotune on it... better than nothing. Its a fun live song, thats for sure. I'll even sing it live I like it so much.
I'm working on being an engineer full time at some point... I graduate with my bachelors this Saturday... now I gotta start tracking down work, for my own studio and outside stuff.
