I'd probably get it. But I'd ask to speak to the original owner first. I'd balk at the fact that the intake doesn't have the SVT logo. Use it to knock them down in price.

Also run the VIN to make sure it is a SVT. Too many of the little details makes it look like a SVT to me. But that intake bothers me, this might have been a blown motor that has been replaced. In which case that's even worse because then I'd be strongly worried that you don't have a SVT motor. Did you drive the 98 se? Was there a BIG difference in power?? If not I'd say stay away.

But if your answer is yes to the difference in power then someone just screwed up somehow and it will make one hell of a fun car to own.

when I was trying to ditch my 97 GL Zetec ATX, I was actually looking for a 95-96 V6 5-spd, but some online classifieds don't specify manual or automatic. The SVT made the task easier because it only comes in 5-spd.

As far as your car, intake plaque aside, all the other SVT-specific pieces add up. The VIN will tell you for sure. Ask about the plaque, maybe someone just stole it (it happens). In any case, it's easy for them to replace it.

My E0 has the badge -

I don't think there is any question, get the SVT.
The SE is a decent car, but after the job SVT has done on the base package they don't really compare. The SVT is a blast.

Buy it and just enjoy EVERY SINGLE DRIVE.

IMHO :p

Reasons I have SE:

I don't have a garage, I can't afford two cars, I drive in Chicago city traffic alot.

Wouldn't like to see an SVT living that kind of life. wink

I ran VIN checks on BOTH cars. The SVT is truly an SVT. It looks like it might be the SVT for me. You guys are very persuasive! Sorry Tommy, the price suits my budget a little better.
