The cabins we'll be staying in in the fall are called Caney Creek village and its right where the Cherahola starts, perfect  The fall run will have an even better turnout with alot less traffic than you guys probably experienced and its the main reason why I pick the fall to do this...well that and its something to look forward to between the end of summer and begining of winter

Is it a prob with leafs all over the road in the fall? (At least that's what it says on the dealsgap.com website)

That's for bikes. But as far as that is concerned, usually enough traffic will go through to clear the road up enough for bikes to have fun too.

We usually go the second weekend in October; which is October 13-15. Cold nights and cool days with some falling leaves keep most bikes away. The leaves havn't started to change just yet; so the sight-see'ers aren't out yet, either. It's a really good time of year to go. From October's past:
2003 was foggy on the Cherahola. As the day went on, the weather got warmer and clearer.
Well kiss my grits, I don't have any new pictures!!  Anyway, it's just about like that every year. Kinda cold in the mornings, but nice in the afternoon. That keeps most weekend bikers away; just the locals come out.

October 13-15 is looking to be the best to go with. Shall that be the date? The sooner we decide, the sooner we can make plans as well as get it on the tailofthedragon.com calendar to maybe (that is if they don't do any research on how "big" a group we bring) make some groups shy away from coming that weekend.

Yes, that is the date. Since the 15th has almost always been somewhere in the weekend we go.  Look: 2006: October 15, Sunday 2005: October 15, Saturday 2004: October 15, Friday It didn't work for '03.
