Make sure you have them block 976 numbers and any other toll numbers in the 900 range.

I had the same thing happen. The dialer kept popping up and I kept disconnecting it. Sure enough, next phone bill. I called and they at least told me what the number was for. It was some sports stats line or something like that. Only fix, reformat!!

I must be missing something, but don't you have to have a slodem for the dialer to work? How can it dial out if the machine is currently online? I know when I had a modem, the machine would always be online.

For you guys with broadband, why do you have a modem still installed or a phone line attached?!? As soon as I got aDSL, back in the day, the modem was yanked!

This was when I still had dial-up at home. It would disconnect from your ISP and try to dial the 900 number.
