My cat , Sid Vicious , turned 18 this week . He's managed to outlast all of our other pets thusfar - he's the last "man" standing . I bought him back in '88 for my wife (then girlfriend) when we got our first apartment together . Besides being half-deaf , minus a lot of teeth & being a total whiner when he doesn't get his way , he's doing pretty well for an old fart . Heck , he's even sitting right here beside me as I'm typing this (totally ignoring me , sunning himself ) .

That is the meanest looking housecat I've ever seen. It almost looks like you used photoshop on his eyes.

Sounds like your average senior citizen.
Congrats on the longevity.

Good for Sid! My oldest cat, Kingsford, is 16 right now. She's black too (I've always been a sucker for black cats). With the exception of a little arthritis and being a little overweight, she looks to have many more years in her. On a sad note, her mother died 6 months ago, just before Thanksgiving. She was 18, and one of the best cats we've ever had. I hope Sid's around for many more years to come!

Both of mine started off when my wife "fostercared" for a couple kittens from the Animal Protective League. Alot has happened during the past 16 to 17 years, but the cats are still here. They still act like a couple of kittens, playing and fighting with each other. They even swat at my son's dog when he's over at the house. I keep expecting to find one laid out on the floor when I get home from work but they've thus far managed to survive.
