It's good you called the medics right away. Something like that does warrent EMS immediately. Want to hear an even stupider story? While at my rescue squad, I got antifrezee in my eye. and had to be taken to the hospital to get checked out. At least the ambulance was right there.

Lol, everbody's been sprayed before. Next time you can remove the fuel pump relay and cycle the ignition to relieve the pressure. No more spray in the face.

That's what I've done. Pull fuse, open gas cap, cycle key... The first time I had to replace the clamp that helps hold it in, and somehow got some gas in my eye... That was not fun. A good flushing in the sink and I was fine. Did it a few weeks ago with no problems.

What I learned from changing your fuel filter is that when you do get gas all over your hands, don't use hand sanitizer to try to clean up with. It makes its own glue.

Yeah, I always pull the fuel pump fuse, and let the car run till it dies (a few seconds). Then I disconnect everything, always very, very slowly to be sure. You still wind up dumping about a cut of gas though, from some in the lines and a good deal inside the filter.
