I think I am gonna give up now. I have two pre 98's both with bad motors and no money to fix em. I am going insane as it seems everytime I get something to fix the car it either is bad or something else goes out. I just dont have the money to keep throwing into these cars. I hate to do it but I may have to just get rid of them or at least one of them.

if he's already depressed about the stock drivetrain ginving him problems, i'm sure he'll do just fine doing a 5L RWD swap!

That 5.0 swap is on a different line. I am talking about the daily drivers I have that I have been trying to keep running. They are just sucking up my money like mad. I need two new motors one for each car. Everyone says to do the 3.0 swap on them BUT the total would exceed what I paid for the cars to do that swap. I suppose I could keep searching a little more and hope I come across a 2.5 that I can just throw in the cars and drive off. Heck maybe I could sell one for parts and get enough to get another motor for my car. Who knows, I am just p*ssed off about spending more money on getting the car running again. I am just not having luck with them right now.

wait, so the cost of 2 stock engines bothers you, but dumping 5-10 times that in a 5L RWD conversion is just hunky dorey?

Because you paid $125 or whatever it was for one of your cars, you can't justify putting any money into it? A $125 car is going to need some work. Would you feel better if you paid $3000 for that same car with a good engine? If you can do the work, you'll have another $1000 into getting a 3L running with mostly stock parts.

which part of that confused you?
he announced he was thinking about doing a 5L RWD conversion on his contour. that will cost an insane amount of money relative to buying 2 new stock contour engines. if he has a problem and defeatist attitude about replacing 2 engines, how does he hope to do a 5L RWD setup?
