I've had this '95 2.0l for a week, started right up 30 times. Yesterday in traffic the temp got into the "L" so when I got home I decided to take a hose to the radiator, which had grass and debris stuck in it. That may or may not have created my starting problem, but its worth a mention. But anyway the car started right up after that and I drove to a friend's house.
An hour after I got to the friend's, the car will not start. I get the chimes, the check engine light, but no sound, no turning over. Tried to jump it, no dice. I am now waiting on a crank position sensor, just hoping that is the problem and a new one fixes it.
One point to make is that this car has an aftermarket keyless remote, and there are two ways to start the car: 1 - press unlock on remote, insert key, start. 2 - push in fuel pump shut off switch while starting. So maybe somehow the fuel pump circuit is disabled? Although I would thing that pressing the shut off button would re-enable it.
Any ideas what else I might do if that does not fix it? My current plan is to try a camshaft position sensor next. I read one post about connections at the battery and they appear to be fine.

There is a ground which goes under the battery tray. Check that. In addition, is the CEL light on when you turn the ignition to "ON"? If it is not on, it could be no power to the PCM.

I'll go check the ground under the tray. Yes the CEL does come on.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. You're the "kid" ( ) with the one of a kind remote entry/alarm. You may just want to disable that feature (as in remove that feature from your car) first and see if that could be your problem. I think we all suspect that could be the problem.

The new crank position sensor is installed, but still nothing. Could it be the starter? Or something else to check?
I have no idea how to remove the aftermarket keyless remote, but am open to suggestions. Thanks

Just reread your original post. No cranking/turning over would indicate a no power (completely dead battery) or starter. I am still wondering if the remote keyless entry remote could be the cause (maybe it is also hooked up to disable the starter). I doubt the cam or crankshaft is the problem as it doesn't even crank/turn over. I don't have info on how to disable the remote keyless entry. The "brain" is usually under the dash by the steering column if it is aftermarket. And you should hear a "click" or "whirr" when you press the remote to lock or unlock.

YES! Thanks for your help guys. After calling for the tow I called the dealer and asked what they knew and all the guy could say was that the starter kill may be the problem, and that the whole aftermarket kit was under the dash and had a schematic on it if I wanted to check it out. So (under a time crunch since the tow was on the way!) I detached the underdash cover down there by your knees and found the module and it showed where the starter wires went into and out of the module. I pulled that plug, shorted the plug by sticking a one inch piece of wire into side of it, and turned the ignition key and it started right up.
YES!

Glad it worked out. Let's hope it stays that way. .
