It's a grain inside of the metal itself. So, yeah, not wood. Anyhow, let's get back to what counts: midget KISS!

But it was a boring topic. Let's keep it off track. Much better. I prefer French KISS! With 2 other ladies is best.

The wood grain looking metal is called Mokume Gane and is originally an old form of Japanese metal working that is becoming more and more popular lately. The surrounding ring shank appears to be tungsten carbide which is also becoming more fashionable due to its low cost and scratch resistance.
If you couldn't tell, I work in the field and would be happy to help out if anyone has questions or needs recommendations.

The tall bald dude standing out back of the mdgets scares the hell out of me. He looks like a serial rapist or something.

Ding ding ding! Two points! Right on both accounts.... I'm not sure if I'm set on that center color/grain, but I'm either gonna do tungsten or titanium for the shank... Partially because it looks cool, and partially because I will scratch the hell out of anything softer. Anything I should look for? I have about a year....

the titanium, like mine is extremely durable and very very light. and very cheap. i looked at some tungsten carbide too. more expensive and heavier, but i do think it is just as durable.
