Thanks man. that made me laugh, and your right, it can't stay bad very long. I keep finding more and more stuff that they stole from my car and its not making it any better. I never thought of disabling the trunk from being opened from the inside, but now it will be unless the car is parked at home so I can throw everything in the trunk and not worry about people getting in it. And I have an alarm on it but its a complicated electronic mess with the power locks not working so its not working either right now. As far as how they knew about the system, I have no idea. People in riced out Civics have it booming all the time and mine never makes any noise. Only people who have ridden with me are good friends, so I have no idea. But oh well, nothing I can do about it now. For those in college or parking outside in a city, throw everything of value in the trunk and disbale the inside switch so you can only open it with the key. Its definitly worth the extra effort, as I will for the rest of my college career.

That's really suspicious that they knew you had stereo equipment in the trunk. I mean, I guess you could stretch and say since they saw your hu that they assumed you'd have stuff in the trunk.
or they checked?
If they're just checking without knowing equipment exists in people's trunks, then they'd have smashed all the windows of all the cars parked there to get inside the trunks. Seems to me only his car was targeted...

Maybe they saw your red rope lights and thought it was a red power cable to your amp. Thats what i thought when i saw the pictures???

Well, got a call from State Farm this morning and they will cover the window and all that, they will replace the sub and amp and cb radio, but NOT the tools, because they "are not part of the vehicle." So far the tally is at $116 in tools, and I'm finding more that they stole everyday, and these are BRAND NEW!!!!! I used them once!!!! AND some were a birthday gift that I have never used yet becuase I just got them!!!! ok, rant over. SO I'm glad that they are at least gonna cover what they are, and I get a brand new sub and amp, which I had bought used so I can't complain a whole lot there. Oh yea, they stole my checkbook too, but I cancelled the checks already and they havn't written any yet so thats good. But those at college: keep a look out, the UPD said that every spring something like this happens, so just watch out. I'll post some pics of a new window and system when its done. Oh, and as far as the rope lights being mistaken for a power cable, that is possible, especially at night. I can't imagine it happening, but now that I think of it that could be a reason.
EDIT: Oh yea, so far I'm down $250.

Looking at how you ran your power wire, see Pix 2, it was obvious you had something going on in the trunk. I feel bad for you, but take the time to hide your stuff.
Edit: Read the entire thread and it seems those red wires are rope lights?! Either way, it defintely helped to make you a target.

did i say kids only..noo i didnt kids"SLASH"thieves stands for whichever it couldve been
and guys i believe its been established that that is rope light. plus you can see in the trunk the power wire comes from the driver side not the pass and its not that big.
