December 20, 2001 I went to get my car which was parked on the street, and found that my window was broken, the interior was ransacked and it wouldn't start.
I noticed that the hood was popped up and the thiefs had cut the wire to my battery, then wrenched out the battery and stole it.
***i was so pissed***
I figured some junkies stole it to sell for crack, but then I heard that they actually use the battery acid to make crack and thought "sh... their smoking my Contour!"
Replace front passenger window, battery, damaged battery pan and cable assembly $800; insurance deductible $500. Still haven't gotten the check from E'surance. They suck over a disputed $15 labor with the body shop, and compared to the whole bill that is just being dickety.
When I picked up the car (It took 2wks for S&C Ford, San Francisco to get the cables that were in backstock ) discovered that the thiefs had also bent the prop that keeps the hood up, but also broke the clip that keeps it secured when not in use (another $75, another back ordered part).
When I was there, I tried to get the dealership to fix the dash recall but why can't they ever seem to get that part?
All this sucks, but I love my car and my Contour is worth it.
My question is:
Is there any devices that can lock down the hood of my Contour? Alarms suck in the city, every time a Harley or a Garbage truck drives by they go off, no one pays attention to them anyway, and if they cut the battery cable and stole my battery again to make crack out of it, the alarm would be disabled .
Thanks
