Speaking of Mexico and immigration policy, ask just about any Mexican what they think of people from El Salvadore or any Central Americans. Mexicans (those in Mexico) don't treat the illegals that enter THEIR southern border too well, to put it nicely. Yet we're supposed to just open up to them.

And just to put it out there, my parents are from Guatemala and came here legally 30 years ago and are citizens. My grandparents also followed the correct path to citizenship. One of my cousins got her citizenship about a year ago.

Also, a worker for one of my friends makes quite a bit of money working on homes. Easily making over 20/hr. He simply does not care to become a citizen. He's making all the money he needs and then some and has plenty left over to send back to relatives. So money is obviously not the reason many illegals don't become citizens. And living in Houston, I'm sure INS offices are readily available.
