I make that comment based on my training during the First Aid merit badge in the Boy Scouts of America. It was also covered in the First Aid skill award in case you were wondering.

MaddMike2, you're making some broad assumptions there.

Are you kidding? Only a cop or the ex-military should have the right to arm themselves? That is the same viewpoint the Nazi regime practiced in the 1920's and 30's.

What about your training?

Look you do this once, the running, the push ups, the jumping jacks, and the harrasment from friends hopefuly that know their way around guns and ranges. Its done to simulate a high stress environment. Do what you will, its a learning and training drill that just might save your life.

So I do this once and it might save my life?

And finally:

Let me make this simple for the simple people out there, Normaly at the range you wear muffs and plugs, it is just for the excersize that you do not, when your life is on the line you will not have them on. You need to know what to exspect in the real world when you pull the trigger. The noise can stune you, very likly with a big gun in a little room.

By that rational, you should have someone really try to kill you while you're trying to kill them, otherwise you won't "know what to exspect(sic) in the real world when you pull the trigger." Deep knee bends and calesthenics while you're buddies yell at you doesn't simulate the kind of stress you experience when you're life is on the line. All it does is measure your focus while distracted. There are better focus excercises that don't require running around a gun range and not using ear protection.
