I meant "fool" in a good sense. It seems that once folks get a hold of a Kimber, they tend to become brand whores, but for a VERY good reason...
If the Sig 1911 doesn't hold up to my expectations, then my next .45 will be a Kimber. I've owned two Wilson Combats (still have a Classic 2-Tone) and when you get right down to it, the Kimber's are on-par with what comes out of Bill Wilson's shop and for a great deal less.
I've shot most of Kimber's lineup and I love all of them, barring the Ten II.

IIRC JaTo is a Kimber fan. I think he was being fascetious.
< wants a Kimber Warrior (non Desert version) for weekend fun and up north in the woods destruction...
If not a warrior, then an Eclipse Target II:

do not wear hearing protection and have a couple of your buddies yelling in your ears while you shoot.
Worst advice ever.
And you make that comment based on what back ground training?
Look you do this once, the running, the push ups, the jumping jacks, and the harrasment from friends hopefuly that know their way around guns and ranges. Its done to simulate a high stress environment. Do what you will, its a learning and training drill that just might save your life.

unless you do it with any sort of frequency, it's not going to do any good.
and i think his comment was geared towards the lack of hearing protection. which is not a good idea. any hearing issues from discharging a firearm in a self defense scenario will be overcome by the adrenaline dump.

I remember when SW could not give away the MD29 when it first came out. It was to big and to bulky and way to powerful even for the biggest shooter. Low and behold Clint Carries one in a movie and SW can not make enough. There was a reason that it did not sell in the first place. Figure it out.Same thing with the 10mm till Croket carried on on Miami Vice the gun did not sell.

everyone needs to remember these words.
half of your CCW experience should be finding a top notch lawyer, because you will be going to court if you shoot someone.
Very good point. You also must come to the realization that a gun is not to scare someone. A gun is used to kill. Even if, or maybe especially if, you have a CCW(permit to carry a concealed weapon), if you pull your gun out to scare someone, you can get charged for brandishing a weapon. Not fun. You only pull your gun out to kill, and nothing else. Besides, if you don't kill the person you shoot, they can sue you in civil court and the person suing is the primary witness. They might not win, but you'll have a ton of legal fees. If you shoot to kill, no witness, no case.
Join the NRA if not just for the access to a multitude of attorneys that would be glad to take your case (and probably pro bono).

If you can hit the target with a full clip you just might be able to save yourself. What the excercises do is simulate shooting under stress. Also remember the kill shot is normaly the first shot not the last shot.
yeah... they have this thing... it's called the idpa, and that's exactly the circumstances they compete under.
is carrying for everyone? of course not. but don't be a fool and think that only cops or ex-military are capable of using a handgun in a self-defense scenario.
spend as much time at the range as you can, get some training, and above all, ALWAYS use hearing protection... no matter what some idiot on the net says!!!
Are you going to have hearing protection on when the ish hits the fan?
I can see MYRacer now: Bad guy comes in, MXRacer says"Hold on dude, would you be so kind as to wait till I put my ear muffs on. I need to protect my hearing. Oh and by the way you should have a pair on to. Ok I'm ready, wait wait I need my nifty kino Yellow shooter glasses I have to be careful of blowback Ok I'm ready now" You just might get lucky that you can run away while the guy is laughing his a** off, or maybe he watched more movies than you did and is trying to shot the gun up side down.
Let me make this simple for the simple people out there, Normaly at the range you wear muffs and plugs, it is just for the excersize that you do not, when your life is on the line you will not have them on. You need to know what to exspect in the real world when you pull the trigger. The noise can stune you, very likly with a big gun in a little room.

speaking of simple people, perhaps you need to read about three posts up where i already covered this.
otherwise, can the snide comments and insults.
