Ummm. to tow things with maybe? It's a car right? Then whats the big deal? I've towed bikes and airplanes with mine. And I know it's not an SVT and I also know it doesn't mean jack. It will tow fine. keep it under 1200# and loaded properly and it will tow fine.

I did a lot of research on getting a trailer hitch for my CSVT also to tow a small utility trailer. Unfortunately they don't make a specific one for the CSVT. Most shops don't want to mess with it either because the car doesn't technically have tow rating. We use the utility trailer a lot right now using my wife's Taurus, but my next car must be able to have a trailer hitch. If you have better luck than I did, please post an exact link where the rest of us can buy one. I'd love it!!

Well here is as far as i got with locating a hitch for the svt... I sent uhaul an email stating i was looking for an svt hitch... Well they sent me back a part number which is UHI24824... Now the problem with that is every local uhaul dealer i called said that part number does not exist not to mention that they dont carry a hitch for the svt... So i sent a second email to the main uhaul and got the same response with the same part number... Now i tried to call uhaul and order this myself and talk to someone that wasnt a local dealer and i sat on hold for 30 mins about 2 times and never got through to anyone... so i basically have given up and come to the conclusion that uhaul has the worst customer service i've ever delt with... so if anyone has any luck let me know cuz i still want one...

n yes the normal contour hitch works and bolts up but it will hit the bumper... so u'll have to notch it like stated above... i wouldve already done this but i dont wanna have to notch it that much or cut a chunk out of it... n nobody will give refunds if it doesnt fit so im not gunna give it a shot unless i find a hitch made for the svt.... hope maybe some of my research helps i doubt it tho lol...

thanks
jason

I seem to recall some one posting a picture a long time ago and the hitch came through the mesh in the SVT rear bumper

find someone that has one on their regular contour and have them measure it up to see how it would fit

oops

I most likely looked at this thread at work the first time and the photos didn't show, but as I think about it I do not belive that it was your car that I originaly saw a photo from as the stock mesh was cut to fit around the hitch

I don't think the one on my car will clear an SVT exhaust. It's a U-hail one. When I got the Brullen exhaust I had the muffler outlets moved out two inches a side to clear the hitch. I'll do some measuring if somebody wants me to. I could take some pics too I guess. Let me know.

I thought in one of the owner manuals it says something about 1000lb towing limit.

The SVT has no tow rating. But Rigid Hitch sells one that gives clearance under the rear bumper that requires no cutting of plastic.

Part number is here (pdf) http://www.rigidhitch.com/pages/pdfs/PAGE-21-24.pdf

That's awesome!! Do you know if it also includes the wiring harness or is that purchased separately?
